Rush

Kappa Sigma is the largest fraternity in the country and relatively new to Kutztown University. Nationally, Kappa Sigma has over 250 chapters consisting of more than 200,000 students and alumni.

Rushing Kappa Sigma begins 365 days a year,
and we are always looking for new members to add to our brotherhood.

What is rush?
Rush is a great way to learn more about Kappa Sigma. During rush, you will have the opportunity to meet us and ask any questions you may have. Rush events may consist of an informational mixer, sporting event, or simply hanging out with the guys.

How does the process work?
First, you submit your information to us. If you have shown interest in us and we are interested in you, you will be offered a bid. You can decline if you are not interested in joining, but accepting makes you a pledge.

What is a pledge?
A pledge is an associate member of the fraternity. Pledges go through the pledge process to fulfill their requirements of becoming a brother.

What happens during the pledge period?
You will learn Kappa Sigma's history, traditions, and values. Pledges will have the opportunity to attend our non-ritual meetings so you can get familiar with all of the brothers and how our fraternity works. Pledges are encouraged to come out to all our events and participate with us as much as possible.
At the end of the pledge period, you are then initiated and become a full member of the fraternity.

How long is Kappa Sigma's pledge period?
Kappa Sigma has a 60-day pledge period. You may pledge in the beginning of the fall or spring semesters.

Will I be hazed?
Kappa Sigma has a national anti-hazing policy. Our pledge program is free of hazing of any sort and we discourage any type of behavior.

Why join Kappa Sigma?
Kappa Sigma is for any man who wants a fun and meaningful college experience. As any of us will tell you,
membership in Kappa Sigma is a powerful and rewarding experience-- offering social, academic, leadership, and service opportunities you can't get anywhere else. With an extensive scholarship program, excellent community service events, valuable leadership opportunities, and a fun social atmosphere, Kappa Sigma is an excellent asset for any college student.

What else does Kappa Sigma offer?
The Kappa Sigma Scholarship program, the largest in the fraternal world, distributes $250,000 to brothers annually. Kappa Sigma at Kutztown also provides academic benefits as well, with reccomended library hours and study groups. Kappa Sigma provides many opportunities for community service, gaining the respect from many ranking individuals.

Who is Kappa Sigma looking for?
We are devoted to finding men who will enhance and improve our brotherhood. If you are committed to participating in our fraternal activities, chapter meetings, community service projects, and leadership programs, we are looking for you.

I still have questions...
