| What is Shave to Save? Making a difference...one head at a time. |

History of Shave to Save Beginning in the Fall semester of 2006, the newly chartered Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Kutztown University wanted to plan a philanthropy event that would show off their key attributes. After the new year, Kappa Sigma hopped into full swing to develop their event. One of the goals set forth was to create something big, so that both the campus and community heard about it. Many ideas were thrown around until the Fraternity decided on a cancer-benefit philanthropy, which eventually came to be Shave to Save. Over the next several months, ideas were brainstormed, meetings were set, businesses were contacted, and preparations were developed. When the day finally arrived, Kappa Sigma and the Relay for Life could not have asked for a better spring day. Shave to Save became an instant success, raising over $6,500 in its first year. The triumph of the day led Kappa Sigma to call Shave to Save its annual signature event.
When and what happens at Shave to Save? Shave to Save is during one week in April. All proceeds of the event go to the American Cancer Society. 2008
Date and Times: At
the event, come get your hair cut or shaved. Professional
barbers and hairdressers will be on site! Or, just stop by
for these fun events: Is Shave to Save and Relay for Life the same thing? No. Shave to Save is a separate event developed by Kutztown Kappa Sigma. The Relay for Life, Bearfest 30, and Shave to Save are co-events at the same time and location, creating more predominate awareness.
